SHARM EL-SHEIKH, 9 – 11 OCTOBER 2016. PARTICIPATION OF I.A.O. DELEGATION TO THE PLENARY SESSION OF THE PAN-AFRICAN PARLIAMENT

A delegation of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) headed by the Secretary General Mr. Andreas Michailidis, MP, the Advisors Dr. Kostas Mygdalis and Prof. Valery Alekseev, as well as His Eminence Ioannis, Archbishop of Zambia and Malawi, coordinator of the I.A.O. activities in Africa, liaison between the I.A.O. and the Pan-African Parliament, participated to the Plenary Session of the Pan-African Parliament. In the framework of the Plenary Session, a meeting with the President of the Pan-African Parliament Mr. Roger Nkodo Dang was realized, during which, proposals for future joint activities were discussed according to the cooperation agreement between the I.A.O. and the Pan-African Parliament.

In addition, the I.A.O. Secretary General Mr. Andreas Michailidis represented the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament to the festive events for the 150th anniversary of parliamentary life in Egypt and had a meeting with the President of the Egyptian Parliament Dr. Ali Abdel-Aal.

Mr. Andreas Michailidis conveyed warmest regards on behalf of the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Nikolaos Voutsis, briefed the President of the Egyptian Parliament about the I.A.O. activity and also discussed issues related to the representation of the Egyptian Parliament to the I.A.O. The President of the Egyptian Parliament Mr. Ali Abdel-Aal clearly expressed the intention of the Egyptian Parliament to actively participate to the I.A.O. activities.

Moreover, the members of the I.A.O. delegation, had a meeting with the Copt Members of the Egyptian Parliament and informed them about the I.A.O. activity, its goals and its historic course. The Members of the Egyptian Parliament expressed their contemplation to actively contribute to the I.A.O. activities.
