CRETE, 9 – 12 MARCH 2016. PARTICIPATION TO THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE ARAB-EUROPE DIALOGUE WITH SUBJECT: “SOCIETIES IN TRANSITIONS. ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP – WHERE CAN IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?”

An International Conference on the Arab-Europe Dialogue with subject: “Societies in Transitions. Active Citizenship – Where can it make a difference?” was held at the Orthodox Academy of Crete, in Kolymbari, Chania, 9 – 12 March 2016.
Mr. Andreas Michailidis, Head of the I.A.O. Coordinating Cooperation Committee with the Pan-African Parliament, accompanied by the I.A.O. Advisor Dr. Kostas Mygdalis participated at the aforementioned conference. Reputable speakers from Arab countries, as well as countries from European Union participated to the aforementioned conference.
In his speech, Mr. Michailidis referred to the relationships among the Arab world and the European nations, as well as the newly formed conditions between these two entities at the present historic time. More specifically, he referred to the ends of the refugee’s issue and how it affects in our days the Arab world and Europe. He also presented extensively the initiatives undertaken by the I.A.O. towards encouraging interfaith dialogue and convicting religious intolerance and persecution of the Christian populations in the Middle East.
