Valentina Matviyenko: Need to strengthen the Russian-Greek inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The inter-parliamentary cooperation is an important part of international relations between Russia and Greece. Efforts must be made to strengthen the links in this area. This was stated by the Chairperson of the Council of the Russian Federation Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko and the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Greece Evangelos Meimarakis.
Τhe Chairperson of the Council of the Federation proposed to strengthen the inter-parliamentary contacts between Russia and Greece, including, exchange of parliamentary delegations, cooperation through specialized committees, as well as sharing experience in the area of law-making and legislation.
“Russian-Greek relations have a solid legal and regulatory framework. Our parliaments play an important role in its development” – said Valentina Matvienko.
Τhe Chairperson of the Council of the Federation has noted the closeness of the positions of Russia and Greece on the international agenda. “We coordinate our approaches to key international issues in the parliamentary assemblies of the Council of Europe, OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe), BSEC (Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation), the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. Joining forces Russia and Greece becomes an important factor in the activities of the interparliamentary organizations.”
