Parliamentary Activities
- Elected MP with the New Democracy Party (ND) for Serres in the general elections of 1996, 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2009.
- He has been a Member of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on: Production and Trade, finances, social affairs, valuation and technology and of the Special Standing Committee on Greeks abroad.
- After the elections of June 17, 2012, he participates in the parliamentary committees: a) Production and Trade, b) Economic Affairs, c) Special Committee for Hellenes Abroad
- He served as Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food (2014) and Deputy Minister of Interior (2014-2015)
- He participated in parliamentary working groups in the fields of: Agriculture, Trade, Development, Tourism, Ministry of Environment, Public Works and Sports.
- He participated in domestic and foreign forums on national issues, agriculture and issues concerning Hellenes in the diaspora.
- He participated as keynote speaker at international meetings abroad as a representative of the political party and the Hellenic Parliament in the USA, Germany, Belgium, Canada and Australia.
- He was honored in the USA and at the World Pontian Congress for his contribution and parliamentary interest on issues of Hellenism abroad.
- For his parliamentary activity, he was elected by his fellow MPs throughout the country as Deputy Secretary General of the New Democracy parliamentary group.
- He is deputy chairperson of the Standing Committee on Internal Affairs, Public Administration, Public Order and Justice.
- He is chairperson of the Friendship Group of the Hellenic Parliament with the Parliament of Pakistan and a member of the Friendship Group of the Hellenic Parliament with the Parliaments of Russia, Brazil, China and Mexico.
- By decision of the President of the New Democracy Party, Mr. Antonis Samaras, he was appointed Head of the National Defense Political Responsibility Sector.
- By decision of the President of the New Democracy Party, Mr. Antonis Samaras, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Sector of Political Responsibility for Energy and Natural Resources.
- Following the elections of 25th of June 2023, he was appointed member of the Parliamentary delegation to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO). During the 32nd IAO General Assembly, June 2025, he was elected Treasurer and head of the Financial Committee of the IAO.
Political/Social Activities
- In collaboration with the Minister of Interior, Mr. P. Pavlopoulos, and the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Mr. G. Alogoskoufis, he classified the entire Prefecture of Serres as a border region with significant incentives for the residents of the Prefecture.
- On his own initiative, he secured Serres as the seat of the Prefecture of Macedonia for the establishment of EPA (gas supply company) and contributed to the passage of the Southstream natural gas pipeline and the Greek-Italian pipeline through the Prefecture of Serres.
- His daily struggle is on the acute problems of farmers and livestock breeders, fighting both in parliament and in the Ministry of Rural Development for greater absorption of funds from the Fourth Community Support Framework.
