10 JANUARY 2011. I.A.O. MESSAGES ON THE TERRORIST ATTACH IN ALEXANDRIA.
To the Speaker of the Egyptian People’s Assembly Dr. Ahmad Fathi Sorour
The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) expresses its abomination on the brutal terrorist attack against Christian in faith Egyptian citizens, and moreover, on the day they were inside their church in Alexandria.
Such atrocious acts cannot be justified under no circumstances whatsoever, by any peaceful citizen who believes in God. The I.A.O. totally condemns such acts and demands more strict measures to be taken, in order to ensure the sanctuary in places of worship.
Availing myself of this opportunity, please accept, Dr. Speaker, my assurances of high consideration.
To His Holiness Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria, Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria
The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) shares wholeheartedly your grief over the unreasonable loss of our fellowmen and we stress our abhorrence for the crime which took place in the Church of God.
It is dictated for all political forces to acknowledge the complex historical circumstances we are witnessing. Citizens’ tolerance and solidarity and especially the ones who believe in God may contribute towards the resolution of the problems of mankind.
