CALABRIA, ITALY, 18 – 19 SEPTEMBER 2019. PARTICIPATION TO THE CENTENNIAL FESTIVITIES SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE EPARCHY OF LUNGRO.

An I.A.O. delegation headed by the Secretary General Dr. Andreas Michailidis, with the participation of the Head of the Greek Parliamentary delegation to the I.A.O. Mr. Maximos Charakopoulos, the member of the Parliament of Albania Mr. Genc Pollo, the I.A.O. Advisor Dr. Kostas Mygdalis, and the I.A.O. Liaison with Catholic Institutions Mr. Virgilio Avato, participated to the festivities of the Eparchy of Lungro in Calabria for the 100 years since its foundation. Thereby, honoured the Arbarese in the region of Calabria and their commitment to their paternal Byzantine Ecclesiastical traditions responding to the invitation of the local Bishop Mons. Donato Oliverio. Moreover, His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew honoured the aforementioned festivities with his presence.

The I.A.O. supported this significant event with the presentation of the Icon-Painting Exhibition with subject: “The Resurrection of Jesus Christ”, which was officially, opened by His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the town of San Demetrio Corone at the Church of St. Adriano.
