ATHENS, 21 JULY 2014. STATEMENT ON THE MIDDLE EAST.
Statement
of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.)
regarding the latest events in the Middle East
The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) is following with manifest concern and resentment the latest events in the Middle East.
Lives of simple people are disregarded and become the “means” to achieve self-interested goals and hard pursuits.
The Palestinian people suffers a new hardship, with more bloodshed and more inhuman than ever.
The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy:
Expresses its devastation, disappointment and resentment over the horrible events taking place the last days in this long-suffering area.
Calls publicly for immediate discontinuation of bombings against civilians
Recommends immediate opening-resumption of peace dialogue between involved parties
Stands particularly by the side of civilians, elderly people, women and children and in general all those whose life is threatened and property destroyed.
Calls the governments of big states, as well as international organizations, to intervene drastically.
