ATHENS JANUARY 8 2015. STATEMENT REGARDING THE ARMED ASSAULT ON THE OFFICES OF A FRENCH MAGAZINE.
Following yesterday’s armed assault on the offices of a French magazine, the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.), an international organizationactive for 21 years since its foundation, consisting of official Parliamentary delegations and individual Orthodox Parliamentarians from 25 National Parliaments from all over the world:
Expresses, its dismay and horror.
Points out, that such events which, unfortunately, have recently been increased and intensified, taking different forms (kidnappings, murders, beheadings etc), attack the very core of human civilisation and severely injure the moral values that constitute the foundations of the Christian religion and the Orthodox Faith.
Expresses its condolences and sympathy to the families of the innocent victims and to the French Republic for its loss.
Launches an appeal for such acts never to be repeated again.
Hopes that the offenders shall be apprehended and dully punished.
