ALEXANDRIA, 17 – 19 OCTOBER
The meeting of the International Secretariat and Committee Chairpersons of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) was held in Alexandria, Egypt, 18 October 2010.
Parliamentary delegations from Greece, Cyprus, Russia, Albania, Lebanon, Poland and Belarus participated in the meeting.
During the International Secretariat meeting the preparation and organizational details of the future I.A.O. activities were discussed..
Inter-alia is the upcoming signature of the cooperation agreements with the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth Independent States (IPA of C.I.S.) and the Pan-African Parliament.
In addition, the upcoming meeting of the I.A.O. International Secretariat in Beirut, as well as the 18th General Assembly which will be held in Paris, June 2011.
On Sunday, 17 October the members of the I.A.O. International Secretariat attended the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchate Cathedral of St. Savvas, in the presence of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all of Africa. During the Divine Liturgy, the ordination of the new Bishop Ioannis of Mozambique took place, who is also the I.A.O.’s liaison with Africa.
