TRENDINO, ITALY, 8 – 11 AUGUST 2019. PARTICIPATION AT THE MPPU MOVEMENT
The Secretary General of the InterParliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) Dr. Andreas Michailidis and the I.A.O. Advisor, Dr. Kostas Mygdalis following the invitation received by the President of the Movement for Politics and Policy for Unity, Ms. Letizia de Torre, participated at the MppU Movement Conference for the European Mariapolis 2019, held at Trendino, Italy, 8 – 11 August 2019.
In the framework of the Conference, a forum on European Co-Governace was realized, during which Mr. Michailidis was a key-note speaker and said inter alia: “It is with great pleasure that we are here today, at the gathering of the European Mariapolis in Italy’s Dolomites, an area of historical significance and symbolism for our Focolare friends and the Movement for Politics and Policy for Unity (MppU). This is the place, where, 60 years ago, the founder of the Focolare Movement, the late Chiara Lubich, acted and where the movement, aiming at unity among peoples, the global brotherhood and building a more united and peaceful world based on the evangelical love was established. It is the same place, where the idea of “politics for unity” and its institutionalized version, the MppU Organization was born…We are keenly following MppU’s positions on issues of open cities and the idea of “Co-Governance”, and we actively support such initiatives. The idea of “Co-Governance” has inspired many people and institutions”.
In addition, the I.A.O. Secretary General participated in the drafting of a relevant text, which was read in the greek language, emphasizing the following: ‘In local areas and in international contexts, in political, social and economic challenges, we renew our commitment to act in such a way as to love “our neighbour as ourselves”, “other people’s parties as our own”, and “other people’s countries as our own”.
