Statement| 18th annual General Assembly | Paris, France | 21-24 June 2011
STATEMENT on respect and protection of religious freedoms of the Arab Christian communities and the establishment of Palestinian State
Respect and protection of religious freedoms are critical issues for the whole Arab world, including the Holy Land, where Orthodox Christians and other Christian communities feel insecure, since their eager desire is to continuously participate, as equal citizens, in the economic, social, cultural and political life of their countries.
The plight of the Palestinian people is particularly emotional to us, since, besides the lack of respect for their civil and human rights, these people are deprived of their own statehood, which is bound within its internationally recognized borders of 1967.
These needs and rights are fully supported by the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy.
