The President of the General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.), member of the Russian State Duma, Mr. Sergei Gavrilov, participated in the 62nd Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union, in which the IAO has observer status.
“Now, it is necessary to preserve our spiritual unity, even in the conditions of an ecclesiastical crisis. We see that many countries are ready for an independent policy to protect peace on equal terms,” said Sergei Gavrilov.
During his visit to the Republic of Belarus, the MP met with the members of the Council of the House of Representatives of Belarus and member of the delegation of the House of Representatives of Belarus to the IAO. “Inter-parliamentary contacts, within the framework of the Assembly of Orthodoxy, contribute to the strengthening of overall stability,” Sergei Gavrilov said.
