Meeting of the I.A.O. International Secretariat and Committee Chairpersons
Joint meeting of the Coordinating Cooperation Committees of the Pan-African Parliament and the I.A.O.
The meeting of the I.A.O. International Secretariat and Committee Chairpersons, as well as the joint meeting of the Coordinating Cooperation Committees of the Pan-African Parliament and the I.A.O. were held in the city of Ioannina, Greece on 11 and 12 March 2012 respectively.

On the part of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, parliamentary delegations from the Russian Federation, the U.S.A., Greece, Belarus, Poland, The Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Albania, Cyprus, Palestinian Authority, Sudan and Uganda participated in the meetings. The participating Members of the Pan-African Parliament were from Swaziland, Mauritius, Burkina Faso, Chad and Rwanda. The meetings were presided by the President of the I.A.O. General Assembly Mr. Sergei Popov and the I.A.O. Secretary General Mr. Michail Pantoulas.

During the aforementioned meetings decisions were reached regarding  I.A.O. 2012 initiatives at both the organisation’s level, and the international level. In this respect it is worth mentioning as paramount event the organization of the 19th I.A.O. General Assembly, which will be realized in Prague (June 2012) with subject: “Challenges for democracy during periods of global economic crisis”.

During the meeting with the delegation of the Pan-African Parliament the framework of cooperation and joint activity of both organizations in Africa were discussed and they reached the decision of establishing and operate a Foundation seated in Mozambique for Parliamentarism and Democracy, Cooperation and Conciliation.

On Tuesday, 13 March 2012, the representatives of the Pan-African Parliament visited the Acropolis, as well as the Museum of Acropolis and the Hellenic Parliament where they met with the 1st Vice President of the Parliament Mr. Gr. Niotis and the members of the Greek parliamentary delegation to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy.

Οι εκπρόσωποι του Παναφρικανικού Κοινοβουλίου την Τρίτη, 13.3.2012, ξεναγήθηκαν στο Ιερό Βράχο και το Μουσείο Ακροπόλεως, επισκέφθηκαν τη Βουλή των Ελλήνων και είχαν συνάντηση με τον Α’ Αντιπρόεδρο της Βουλής κ. Γρ.Νιώτη και τα μέλη της Ελληνικής Αντιπροσωπείας στη Διακοινοβουλευτική Συνέλευση Ορθοδοξίας.
