The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Annita Dimitriou, had a meeting today with the head Mr. Panikos Leonidou and the members of the Cypriot delegation of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) Mr. Efthimios Diplaros, Mr. Ilias Myrianthous, and Mr. Marino Mousioutta. During the meeting, the Speaker of the Parliament was informed by the members of the Cypriot delegation about the activities of the I.A.O., pointing out that through the participation of the House of Representatives in the Assembly (which is a founding member), the visibility of the Cyprus problem is achieved, among other things and especially the aspect of the destruction of cultural heritage in the occupied territories, as well as other issues of international politics that directly affect Cyprus. From her side, the President of the Parliament explained the Cypriot delegation’s special contribution to the Assembly’s actions and reaffirmed the Parliament’s support in highlighting the work carried out in the I.A.O. There was also an exchange of opinions, and proposals were submitted on both sides to further strengthen the cooperation of the Parliament with the I.A.O. through the undertaking of initiatives and actions for the promotion of the cultural and Christian heritage.
