COTRIC Aleksandar
Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. He was born on 25 September 1966 in Loznica Town, in the west of Serbia.
He graduated from the Law School of Belgrade University.
Parliamentary Activities
Elected member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in the following periods: 1994-1997, 1997-2000, 2004, 2008-2012, He has been an MP since 2012 onwards.
He was a State Secretary in the Ministry for Diaspora of the Republic of Serbia, in the period 2004 – 2007.
He has been the Chair of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia since July 2012 onwards.
He was the Head of the Standing Delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O) in the period 2008 – 2012. He has been the member of this Delegation since 2012 onwards. He was elected a member of the Secretariat of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy in June 2012. He is a member of the Committee on Mass Media and the Committee on International Policy in the I.A.O.
Political/Social Activities
He was one of the founders of the Serbian Renewal Movement political party in 1990. Now he is a Vice-President of the Serbian Renewal Movement which is a centre-right party and a people’s party of Demochristian orientation.
He was a member of the Belgrade City Administration, in charge of information in the period 1997 – 2000. He was a Chair of the Management Board of ‘Studio B’ television, in the period 1997-2000.
He is a member of the International Fund for the Unity of the Orthodox Peoples.
He is a writer and a journalist. He is a member of the Association of Writers of Serbia. He has published several books that have been translated in foreign languages and he has received literary awards in Serbia and abroad. His name is mentioned in anthologies that have been published in Russia, USA, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and other countries.
