ATHENS, 3 JANUARY 2017. PRESS RELEASE
The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) sent letters of condolences signed by the I.A.O. Secretary General, member of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Andreas Michailidis and the President of the I.A.O. General Assembly, Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Mr. Sergei Popov to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mr. Ismail Kahraman and the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Dr. Saleem al-Jubouri, regarding the events of terrorist attacks in their counties.
The letter of condolences states inter-alia: «…Yet once again, these past days, an attempt was made to undermine the peaceful coexistence between peoples and individuals belonging to different cultures. What is more, this terrorist act was perpetuated by fundamentalist murderers in the name of religious faith. The I.A.O. is extending its deepest sympathies to the families of the victims. The punishment of the murderers becomes the claim of each and every citizen the world over, as well as the eradication of all forms of terrorism used as a means for the prevalence of dark ideological constructs».
