Following an invitation from the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC), Mr. Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) was represented by its member Mr. Theodore Ssekikubo (MP from Uganda), at the 18th Session of the PUIC, held at the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire in Abidjan.
It is pointed out that the invitation for the IAO participation at the plenary session of the Muslim inter-parliamentary institution, was sent in the wake of the correspondence between the IAO Secretary General, dr. On the sidelines of the PUIC session, the African Orthodox parliamentarian had the opportunity to hold a meeting with PUIC Secretary General Mr. Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, as well as the PUIC Deputy Secretary General Mr. Ali Asghar Mohammadi Sijani. During this meeting, Mr. Ssekikubo handed over to the heads of the PUIC General Secretariat a letter of invitation for their participation in the ΙΑΟ International Political Conference, which will be held in Thessaloniki on May 15-17, 2024. The officials of the OIC parliamentary body thanked the IAO representative and expressed their interest in participating in the Thessaloniki Conference.
