Dr of Theology, Architect, Advisor of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy.
Married with the cardiologist doctor Dorothea Tourlitaki. Has a son, student in the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki.

Social – Political Activities

Special Secretary of the Parliamentary Committee on Orthodoxy, Greek Parliament. (1993-2001)

Member of the Organisational Committee of Pan-European Congress “Orthodoxy in the New European Reality” (1993) organised by the Greek Parliament.
Adviser of the Secretariat of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, an international parliamentary organisation seated in Athens, Greece since 1993.
Rapporteur in congresses and events organised by parties and institutions in Greece and abroad (Pan-Hellenic Association of Theologians, Theological Association, Orthodox Academy of Crete, Fontazione Agnelli, ASFER, and others) related to orthodoxy and the modern world. (1986-2004).

Founding member of the Centre for Ecumenical Studies and Inter-Orthodox Information that seated in Thessaloniki, Member of the Board of Directors (1993- 2000).
Participated in the teams of researchers of the European Union member- states that worked in research programs on the subjects: “The European identity, the welfare state and religion”, “The contribution of the religious factor in the configuration of the European identity”, “The cultural identity and institutional patriotism” and others.
As a member of the Central Committee of the Hellenic Left Party (EAR) was the coordinator of the 3day Congress in Thessaloniki on the subject “The Left Wing and the Church in Greece today”. (1988)

Studies

Architectural Faculty of the University of Venice. (1970-1976)
Doctor of Theological Faculty of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. Title of his thesis: “THE ECUMENICITY OF ORTHODOXY. Problems and Perspectives in Postwar Greece (1948-2000)”, 2004.

Publications in the local and Pan-Hellenic Press, various articles and studies on decentralisation and growth.
Author of the numerous articles in the daily and periodical press in Greece and in Italy, on subjects related to the Church – State relations, the Left Wing and the Orthodoxy and the presence of Orthodoxy in Europe and the Balkans, as well as on Mount Athos (structural works, land planning, protection of environment).
Publications of the Materials of the General Assemblies of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, 1995-2004.
